This ceramic Spode plate was in more than 5 pieces when it came to us. After thorough cleaning and appraisal we started work on putting it back together. When porcelain plates smash like this one they never go back completely the same, the porcelain springs out of shape and great care is needed so that when repaired the joins cannot be detected. We also recreated the gold guilt on the edges of the plate; this is another effect we can achieve in the restoration of antiques.
