Champlevé Enamelling

Enamal Restoration and Enamel Repair using Champlevé Enamelling

Enameling is the process of using heat to fuse frit, powdered glass, to the surface of a metal object.

The champlevé technique involves the carving or etching of troughs into the metal surface, which are then filled with enamel. The remainder of the metal design stands proud, leaving the enamel decoration to the indented design.

With its roots in ancient cultures, enameling gained prominence in 19th-century design and at M Flynn Restorations we can restore the vibrant look and feel of your treasured jewellery and keepsakes.
